The traditional Greek breakfast features delicacies from all over Greece. Fresh bread is paired with Greek honey, jams or tahini for extra energy. Recommended is the “tomatokagiana” (scrambled eggs with tomatoes and feta, sausage from Mykonos or bacon from Crete), the cheese pie or the cream-filled “bougatsa”. Various salads are served, such as pasta with carrot, lentils (with herbs and Florina peppers), black eyed beans with celery, “dakos” rusk with “ksinomyzithra” cheese from Crete or “trahana” (traditional pasta with feta and croutons). A light choice is the tasty yoghurt from Thessaloniki, served plain, with honey or handmade grape spoon sweet. Desserts include homemade semolina pudding (halva), orange pie and walnut pie. A sip of the local liqueur Tendoura of Patras, will complete the gastronomic feast!

The Stratos hotel offers a wide selection of traditional delicacies for breakfast. There is coffee, teas, fruit juices and breads. There are also two kinds of olives, a selection of cheeses like feta, a selection of cold cuts, fresh vegetables from local producers, fresh fruits, yoghurt, boiled eggs, butter, honey from Chalkidiki, handmade cake, cookies, handmade jams, handmade spoon sweets handmade “ryzogalo” (rice pudding). Hot dishes include eggs and sausages, French toasts and freshly baked pies like cheese pies and apple pies, “tomatokeftedes” (fried tomato balls) and “kolokythokeftedes” (fried zucchini balls).

The Greek breakfast at the Stone Village starts with bread, cookies, rusks, bread sticks and biscuits. As for beverages, there is Greek coffee (among other types) and various herbal teas of Crete. At Christmas and Easter, handmade traditional delicacies such as “kourabiedes”, “melomakarona”, “diples” (fritters with honey), “tsoureki” (sweet bread) and “avgokouloura” (egg cookies) are offered.

Dried raisins from Corinth, dried figs from Evia, tahini from Macedonia, sun-dried cherry tomatoes from Santorini, “loukoumi” (Turkish delight) from Syros, olive oil from Mani, “throubes” olives and “pasteli” (sesame paste) with honey from Andros, are some of the best Greek signature products on this breakfast table.

Another popular delicacy is the traditional milk pie roll and the hot “loukoumades” (honey dumplings) or savory “tiganites” (pancakes) with goat’s cheese. The vanilla cream, as well as the “ryzogalo” (rice pudding) are also popular. There is also “trahanas” soup or traditional “chylopites” (pasta). Other hot dishes are mushrooms with aromatic greens, the zucchini with olive oil and fresh oregano, the baked tomatoes with feta.

The breakfast at Somewhere Boutique Hotel has a strong Greek and Mediterranean emphasis. There is a selection of breads made with traditional ingredients, a handmade cheese pie with village style phyllo dough and Greek cheeses, cold cuts from Greek farms, and dairy produce such as “manouri” cheese from Larisa, “kasseri” from Vermio, feta from Lesvos, and gruyere from Crete. Guests will also find organic eggs cooked in various ways, cereals such as oats and cracked wheat, Greek honey, tahini (sesame spread) and spoon sweets. Seasonal fruits, homemade jams, olives and olive oil from Kalamata are some of the traditional local choices. Greek herbal teas and traditional “Loumidis” Greek coffee will conclude a nice rich breakfast.

The Sentido Vasia Resort & Spa serves a variety of Cretan delicacies for breakfast. The buffet
has fresh bread, delicious cakes, freshly baked bakery products (with cheese, raisins, chocolate etc), honey, jams, yoghurt, fresh butter, olives and a selection of Greek cheeses. The “Cretan corner” offers traditional spoon sweets, locally produced Cretan olive oil and aromatic herbs and spices. Cheeses include gruyere, “manouri” and feta, all paired with tomatoes and cucumber, black and green olives, pickles and sliced lemon. Hot dishes feature eggs and various omelettes (with mushrooms, cheese, smoked “apaki” pork etc), saut?ed cherry tomatoes with spices, potatoes with grated “anthotyro” cheese and village style sausages. The “loukoumades” (honey dumplings), the cream-filled “bougatsa” pie, the pies with mushrooms, ham, or greens and the “ryzogalo” (rice pudding) are really worth tasting. Drinks and beverages feature natural orange juice, Greek coffee, various teas and herbal beverages like the “alisfakia”. Breakfast is complete with a selection of nutritious dried fruits and nuts.

The breakfast buffet includes a wide selection of Cretan and Greek dishes among its standard international offerings. Guests will find cheese pie or cream-filled “bougatsa” pie, Cretan honey, yoghurt from a local producer, feta cheese, village style sausages, fresh village style bread products and “dakos” rusks from a traditional local bakery. Other local products include fruits and vegetables, homegrown olives and extra virgin olive oil. Herbal beverages such as sage, linden, “diktamo”, mountain tea and chamomile will provide guests the energy for the rest of the day.

The Cosmopolitan hotel’s breakfast buffet offers many local Greek dishes and products. There is fresh bread, apple pies, cheese pies and cake. The various jams from local fruits are paired with yoghurt. The “feta” cheese, the “anthotyro” and the “krasotyri” cheese from Kos are the stars of the cheese corner and there are fresh eggs cooked in various ways. Also offered are fresh and dried fruits, salads, with local olives, fresh olive oil, cucumbers and fresh tomatoes. For dessert, the “tomataki” (cherry tomato) sweet is a popular “spoon sweet” and so is the traditional “mageria”.

The breakfast buffet features Greek products and recipes from Zakynthos, using typical local products of the island like raisins, virgin olive oil (distinguished for its rich aroma and deep color) and flower honey. Guests can enjoy many different kinds of bread products like the traditional rusks of Zakynthos (with oil, wine and local raisins), cakes, bread with raisins, biscuits and cookies. Hot dishes include among others “strapatsada” (scrambled eggs and tomato) and Cretan “dakos” rusk with tomato. There are also homemade jams, spoon sweets, “melachrino” cake, traditional “fitoura” and “glaounes” of Zakynthos as well as olives from local producers, many kinds of dried nuts, a selection of cheeses that includes gruyere from Zakynthos and “myzithra”, yoghurt, fresh vegetables and fresh fruits.

The Greek breakfast starts with fresh Greek milk, yoghurt, fresh butter, a selection of handmade jams, compotes, and honey from local producers. As for bakery products, guests may taste fresh bread (village style, wheat, whole wheat), bread for toasts, croissants, the special cake of the day, homemade cookies, cheese pies and tarts, biscuits and a selection of cereals. There are also platters with cheeses from producers of Skopelos as well as platters of cold cuts, fresh vegetables, olives, eggs (boiled, fried, poached), sausages, bacon and fresh juices. As for sweets, worth trying are the “ryzogalo” (rice pudding), various handmade pies with fruits and the traditional sweets of Skopelos (“haimalia” and “rozedakia”).
