Breakfast at the pool-front patio is an unforgettable experience. A full American buffet breakfast will satisfy every guest’s taste, but the special treats are the “Greek Flag” dishes. Guests will have the opportunity to “taste” the local culture, to come closer to Kos and its people. So, locally produced and oftenly organic ingredients are used, to create in-house, traditional delicacies that represent the special flavours of Kos.

The hotel’s Greek breakfast usually includes among others: Red-wine soft cheese, feta cheese, locally grown olives, herb infused olive oil, farmer’s cheese, a wide selection of rye and whole-wheat flavoured rusks and breads, flatbreads, mint/rosemary/mountain teas, savoury and sweet pies with homemade puff pastry, chalva and mayirya desserts, marmelades and local fruit preserves.

The breakfast buffet is set daily with traditional delicacies and products from Kos. There is fresh bread from the traditional neighborhood bakery, homemade jams and handmade pies that steal the show. The pies are made with greens from the vegetable garden. The traditional cheese of Kos, “krassotyri” is served twice a week. The green olives are prepared on the premises. Homemade honey dumplings (“loukoumades”) are not to be missed, as well as the traditional ‘small tomato’ spoon sweet.

Hotel Galini offers Greek breakfast with homemade jams, cheeses from local producers and many other local products. The dairy products include “kasseri” cheese of Eressos as well as “ladotyri”, “myzithra”, “anthotyro” and feta cheese, olives from the family farm, yoghurt with honey, fresh fruits and vegetables. There are also cookies, “pasteli” (sesame and honey paste) and other delicacies supplied by the Women’s Cooperatives of Lesvos. The sweet and savory cakes are always fresh. There is a daily rotation of specialties like “Sfouggato” (zucchini pie) and eggs with tomato or sausages.

The Ftelia Bay serves breakfast featuring a wide selection of traditional delicacies such as breads of Mykonos, various local cookies, cake, bread sticks, honey, tahini and jams.
Guests may choose among a selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. Dairies include yoghurt, “ksynotyro” and “trovolia” cheeses of Mykonos as well as buttermilk, butter and milk. Eggs are cooked in various styles (fried, boiled, with smoked “apaki” pork or with local “louza”). The fresh pies, such as spinach pie, or the traditional onion pie with “trovolia” cheese are recommended. Other delicacies are the olives from Kassandra, traditional “trahanas” pasta and “rafiolia” with “trovolia” (local ravioli). Beverages include various teas and Greek coffee, paired with sweets like handmade spoon sweets, cream-filled “bougatsa” pie, dried fruits and nuts.

There is also Greek fruit salad and plain yoghurt (locally produced) with fruits. The free range eggs are cooked in various styles. Cold cuts are also available and various pies such as zucchini pie, spinach pie and savory cake are also worth trying. Some other signature dishes are mushrooms with garlic, bruschetta with “feta” cheese, baked beans and village style sausages with peppers and onions. The desserts are homemade and include orange pie, “fanouropita” cake, cheesecake, vanilla cream, grape sweet, apple pie and chocolate pudding. There are fresh fruits like apples, oranges, watermelon, melon and peaches.

The Greek breakfast at the Erofili includes a wide selection of dishes such as bread from the local bakery, boiled or fried eggs and omelet, Greek yoghurt and honey from Ikaria. There are also jams from the local Cooperative, pies with wild greens, cheese and zucchini pies as well as various sweets made by the owners: “finikia” (traditional sweet of Ikaria), “bougatsa” (custard pie), semolina pudding (halva), “ryzogalo” (rice pudding), orange pie, cookies etc. The spoon sweets of Ikaria are worth trying as well as the “loukoumi” (Turkish delight). The breakfast buffet also offers fresh vegetables such as tomatoes and cucumbers, grilled vegetables such as peppers from Florina, fresh fruits, olives and Greek cheeses such as feta, “manouri” and gruyere.

The rich Greek breakfast buffet at the Erytha welcomes guests whit a glass of “soumada”, a sweet beverage made from almonds. There are also traditional thin “tiganites” (pancakes) with “myzithra” cheese and honey of Chios. Another traditional delicacy is “pontikes”, which resembles French toasts. Traditional pies with wild greens and feta, rusks with “kopanisti” (spicy white cheese) and green olives are also available. Guests will also find “masourakia” and “flogeres” made with phyllo crust and filled with almonds. Cool yoghurt is paired with spoon sweet, next to “moustalevria” (grape must) and hot “loukoumades” (honey dumplings). Last but not least, there are sweet mastic biscuits to dip in fragrant Greek coffee or even mastic flavored coffee, brewed the traditional way.

The Greek breakfast at the Elysion Hotel is based on local traditional products and recipes. Fresh bread is baked in a traditional oven, paired with feta and “myzithra” cheeses. There are cereals, honey and jams made by the Women’s Cooperative of Agiasos as well as cheese pies with local cheese. The dairies buffet includes “ladotyri” cheese and gruyere from Mytilini, local goat’s yoghurt, sheep’s butter from Chydira and eggs from a local poultry farm. Vegetarians will appreciate the Greek salad and fresh fruits. Traditional sweets of the day include “diples” (fried pancakes with honey and walnuts), “loukoumades” (honey dumplings) and syrupy “kadaifi” with phyllo and nuts. There are also various cakes, “tsoureki” (sweet bread), walnut pie and almond pie. The selection of savory pies includes cheese pie, spinach pie, chicken pie etc. The beverage selection has Greek milk, coffee and tea.

Bakery products include “ladokouloura” made from yeast with herbs, “lazarous”, a unique bread with raisins, figs and dried nuts, the well known “fanouropita” cake and cookies like “anevata”, “zacharenia”, among others. Milk and local yoghurt are paired with spoon sweets or the famous Rhodian thyme honey. Some famous local sweets are “Mantinades” from Lindos, “takakia”, “marmarites”, “moschopoughia”, “kserotigana”, and the “Katimeria”, in countless variations with honey, cheese, olive oil etc. Worth mentioning are the “Poughia” or “Poughies” -pies made with various wild greens, with just salt and spicy peppers, then wrapped in phyllo and baked in a traditional “Klivani” oven. An old local recipe is “Vilanoviatiki Krommyder”, made with lots of onions and eggs. Eggs can also be scrambled with tomato “Kagianas” style or beaten with zucchini, in an omelet known as “Sfouggato.” Another unique local dish is “matsogalo” which resembles rice pudding but instead of rice it is made with “matsa” pasta. The traditional “melekouni” from Rhodes, made with honey, sesame and almonds. is the perfect ending to this Greek breakfast.

The hotel produces its own olives and olive oil and bakes traditional pies with cheese, spinach, zucchini, “zymaropita” pie, milk pie and “ryzogalo” (rice pudding). There is also fruit salad, orange juice, fresh fruits and vegetables from the hotel’s vegetable garden. A selection of cereals, homemade mastic flavored cake, hot coffee, hot chocolate and a selection of teas are also available at the breakfast buffet.
