The rich breakfast buffet is based on the Greek cuisine and features local Cretan products. For starters there is coffee accompanied by fresh orange juice and herbal beverages such as “diktamo”, “melissochorto”, mint, sage, chamomile, and local juices. There is also wheat, barley and carob bread, and a variety of traditional rusks and buns. Spreads include thyme honey, various jams, and dried fruits. Dairy products feature “anthotyros” cheese, yoghurt, gruyere, “kefalotyri” cheese, “myzithra” and “ksynomyzithra” cheeses, paired with cold cuts such as “apaki” smoked pork. There is a selection of fruits and fresh fruit salad, traditional Greek salad, extra virgin olive oil and olives. A local pasta soup offered is “ksynochondros”. Local specials include “kaltsounakia” with spinach, pies with greens, meat pie, “tzoulata”, and “anevates” pies. Omelettes and fried eggs are served with ingredients like “apaki” or “staka” butter. Recommended are the Cretan “dakos” rusks. Desserts include “ryzogalo” (rice pudding), cream-filled “bougatsa” pie, “kserotigana” (fritters), various spoon sweets and “lychnarakia” with sweet cheese filling.

Breakfast at the Kouriton House is based on the basic elements of the Cretan diet which are: oil, wheat, wine (the holy trinity) as well as wild greens, vegetables and herbs. There is organic olive oil with aromatic herbs, varieties of olives, herbal teas such as rosemary, verbena, sage, thyme, vine leaves or leaves from fruit bearing trees, “malotira”” (Cretan mountain tea), and “diktamo”. Guests may try various bakery products like traditional bread, rusks, barley rusk and dakos, free range eggs -boiled (served in an olive oil, mint, oregano, mustard or sesame oil sauce.) Cretan omelettes are served (with wild greens, basil, mint, fennel). There is thyme honey from the mountains of Crete, milk, yoghurt, cheese from Mylopotamos, gruyere from Crete, “ksinomyzithra”, local yoghurt with “glistrida” (portulaca), walnuts and flavored oil. Traditional wheat, “chondros” (traditional pasta) soup, are also served. Spreads include tahini with flavored oil and honey, jams and homemade spoon sweets. Vegetarian choices such as fresh and dried fruits and nuts are also available. For dessert there are selections like lemon pie, “halvas”, orange cake, “tiganites” (pancakes). Beverages also feature many coffee varieties, including the traditional Greek coffee.

The breakfast buffet at Kournas Village offers top quality products from the land of Crete. Breakfast includes four different types of fresh bread, traditional Cretan rusks, boiled and fried eggs, as well as omelettes. The cold cuts and cheese products are locally produced, as are the black and green olives. Guests may also try dried fruits and various compotes. The home baked pies, various kinds of cakes, biscuits and jams are highly recommended. There are also spoon sweets which can be be paired with yoghurt. Beverages include coffee, milk, tea, cocoa and various fruit juices.

Sweet treats offered are “kserotigana” (fritters) of Chania, “loukoumi” (Turkish delight), dairy creams, “ryzogalo” (rice pudding) sprinkled with cinnamon, and yoghurt. Other desserts include the traditional “lychnarakia”, “anevata skaltsounia”, apple pie, semolina pudding (halva), pasteli bar (sesame paste and honey), spoon sweets and thyme honey. The beverage selection features herbal infusions like wild sage, “diktamo” and “karteraki” mix, with therapeutic properties.

The Village breakfast offers a wide selection of traditional dishes, starting with traditional herbal beverages, such as chamomile and “erondas”, and fresh orange juice. As for bakery products, there are various types of bread from a local bakery, “dakos” barley rusk and sesame biscuits with oil. Guests should really try the jams, such as plum with olive oil and honey, orange with verbena and strawberry. Local honey with thyme and yoghurt paired with honey or spoon sweets are also served. Other delicacies include gruyere with honey, “athotyros” cheese, “kefalotyri” cheese and the local variety of Archanes olives. The breakfast buffet also serves eggs or omelet with “apaki” (smoked pork), sausage with leek and “ksydato”. For dessert, the sweet “tiganites” (pancakes) with honey are highly recommended.

The hotel has a large farm with organic olive trees from which virgin olive oil and olives are produced. There are also various trees bearing a variety of fruits (citrus, fig, peach, apricot, pears, pomegranate, quince, watermelons melons etc.) The farm also boasts its own vineyard where many varieties of grapes are cultivated, used to make wine, “raki” and “moustalevria” (grape must pudding). The hotel serves fresh fruits and dried nuts as well as handmade jams made with fruits from the farm. The beverages from homegrown herbs (marjoram, “diktamo”, mint, sage, “malotira”, etc.) are recommended. The Greek breakfast offers varieties of bread, barley rusks, products with carob (cookies, breadsticks, rusks), yoghurt, cheeses (“myzithra”, feta, gruyere etc), and a wide selection of cold cuts. The savory or sweet dishes include “dakos” (rusks with tomato, feta), savory and sweet cakes, apple pie and tarts with handmade jams. Pies are made with fillings like spinach, cheese, sausage, zucchini, and there is also “sfougato” omelet with zucchinis, as well as eggs cooked in many ways. Desserts include “ryzogalo” (rice pudding), dairy creams, compotes.

The Indigo Mare Hotel serves breakfast with the best ingredients and recipes of the Cretan and Greek cuisine. A typical Greek breakfast starts with herbal beverages such as “malotyra”, “diktamo”, “melissohorto”, chamomile, green tea, and there is also natural orange juice and Greek coffee. As for bread and bakery products there are various breads, barley rusks, rusks with oil, rye rusks, barley buns, and various biscuits and cakes. Home produced extra virgin olive oil and olives are among the favorites. Guests may try thyme honey, jams, dried fruits and walnuts.
The cheese selection includes feta, “myzithra” and yellow cheese, and there is yoghurt and various cold cuts. There are always fresh fruits and vegetables on the buffet. Hot dishes include “kalitsounia” with wild greens, or with “myzithra” cheese, fried eggs, and sweet “kserotigana” (fritters).

Breakfast at the Iolida Beach consists of a wide selection of traditional delicacies, starting with varieties of bread, bread rolls, cakes, mini cream pies, apple pies and “loukoumades” (honey dumplings). The cold buffet serves full fat yoghurt, fruit salad and compote. There are cold cuts, feta cheese, fresh butter, and honey. The hot buffet serves, among other dishes, eggs “strapatsada” (scrambled with ham and tomato), saut?ed mushrooms with parsley and garlic, and village style sausages. Guests will enjoy fresh orange juice, teas, chamomile and sage. The Cretan Corner features plums, figs, apricots, walnuts, tomato, cucumber, slices of lemon, olive oil, olive oil with oregano or rosemary, rusks (mini “dakos” rusks), gruyere and “myzithra” cheese. The dessert section features sweets such as apple pie, “ravani” (syrupy semolina cake) and walnut pie.

Guests at the Ionia Suites hotel start their day with a healthy Greek breakfast consisting of fresh local products. There is also a choice of cold cuts, including the famous Cretan “apaki” (lean pork meat, delicious and aromatic, with a characteristic smoky taste). The fresh local eggs are cooked in various ways, including “strapatsada” (scrambled with tomato). There is a selection of jams and spoon sweets, dried nuts and fruits, as well as compotes. The fresh fruits and vegetables are supplied by local farmers and are organic.

The Cretan Breakfast holds a place of honor in a specially designated area of the buffet. There is fresh bread from the bakery, crunchy vanilla and grape must cookies, barley and wheat “dakos” rusks (paired with fresh organic tomato, fresh “myzithra” cheese and organic olive oil.)
There are also local smoked cold cuts, yoghurt paired with homemade jams and fresh fruits, as well as dried fruits and nuts. Drinks and beverages feature homemade lemonade, tasty aromatic herbal beverages such as sage, “diktamo”, marjoram, mountain tea, “eronta”, all served with local thyme honey and fresh lemon.

Guests will also find local fruits, traditional desserts (“kalitsounia”, “anevata”, “kserotigana”), carob honey, six types of olives, four kinds of rusks, tomato or olive jam, “glystrida” and “stamnagathi” greens. There are also four types of handmade bread, baked on the premises, Greek salad, Cretan gruyere, “ksinomyzithra” and “anthotyro” cheeses, sardines, smoked herring, and four kinds of aromatic olive oil. Finally, there is honey, “tahini” (sesame paste), “loukoumi” and “pasteli” (honey and sesame bar) and to conclude, Greek coffee brewed the traditional way.
