The Cretan breakfast consists mainly of products such as olives, barley rusk or bread, local cheeses (gruyere, “anthotyro”, “”myzithra” etc), fresh goat’s milk and yoghurt. Apart from these, there is also honey, fruits and “ksinohondros” (traditional pasta -“trahanas”). The Cretan breakfast has been recognized worldwide for its beneficial effects on the longevity and quality of life of Cretans. All these elements have survived through time and as a result they encompass the wisdom of previous generations. A good way to achieve the continuation of tradition is the effort to acquaint all guests with the Cretan dietary culture.

The breakfast served at Hotel Renieris is mostly based on the Cretan diet, which is proven to contribute to good health and longevity. Guests will find two types of bread from the local bakery, olive oil cake and apple pie baked on the premises. Local products include olive oil, flower honey, Kalamon type olives, black and green olive paste, Cretan “dakos” rusk, chocolate dessert, omelet, smoked Cretan sausages, and fresh fruit salad. Furthermore, guests may try “kalitsounia” with “myzithra” cheese and spinach, or “bougatsa” pie of Chania with sweet “myzithra” cheese.

The Greek breakfast at the Porto Veneziano features fresh orange juice, fruits, breads and bakery products, such as cookies, traditional rusks, biscuits, handmade cookies and local jams. There is also Cretan honey, spoon sweets, tahini spread and dried fruits. Dairies include fresh milk, yoghurt, butter, Cretan gruyere, local “anthotyro” cheese, feta and “pichtogalo” from Chania. Recommended is the small “dakos” (rusks with tomato, feta), paired with salads, a variety of Cretan cold cuts, local virgin olive oil, and olives. Savoury dishes include “Tiganites” (pancakes), Sfakia style pies, pies with “myzithra” cheese or with greens, “lychnaracia” with myzithra cheese. Eggs are cooked in various styles, such as “strapatsada” (scambled with cheese and tomato) or “sfouggato” with zucchinis. Guests may taste various pies with phyllo dough (cheese, spinach, with greens or leeks). Desserts include semolina pudding (halva), “loukoumades” (honey dumplings), orange, almond, or walnut pie, “bougatsa” pie, homemade “ryzogalo” (rice pudding), homemade vanilla or chocolate cream and “kaltsounia” (traditional sweets). Highly recommended are the “galaktoboureko” (cream-filled), “trigona” (phyllo triangles with cream), “ekmek-kadaifi” with cream. Beverages include herbal teas “dictamo”, “malotira” (mountain tea), sage, Greek coffee and cold “kanelada” (cinnamon drink).

The Greek breakfast buffet serves various breads, traditional loafs or with carob and corn, bread sticks and rusks, paired with Cretan “myzithra” cheese and gruyere, smoked pork (“apaki”), sun dried tomatoes, olives and olive paste. Virgin olive oil from the 300 olive trees of the hotel, fresh vegetables and fruits from the garden are also offered. Specials include handmade cream-filled “bougatsa” pie of Chania, “ryzogalo” (rice pudding), “loukoumades” (honey dumplings), “lychnarakia” and “kaltsounakia” (made with “myzithra” cheese and honey) and spoon sweets. Breakfast is complete with strained yoghurt, jams, thyme honey with walnuts, dried nuts and dried fruits together with tea and “malotira”, a herbal beverage from Psiloritis Mountain.

Breakfast is served in an outdoor restaurant with panoramic views of the Bay of Chania. The buffet features a wide selection of local and traditional products presenting guests with a full picture of the Cretan products. The Cretan corner includes among other things local, fresh cheeses such as “anthotyro” and “myzithra”, fried eggs with “staka” (traditional butter), a variety of olives, aromatic virgin olive oil, mini “dakos” rusks, local beverages, dried nuts, sheep’s yoghurt etc.

A breakfast buffet with many traditional and handmade delicacies is served at the Pallazzo Greco Hotel. There is fresh bread, rusks and breadsticks from the village bakery, homemade spoon sweets, honey, biscuits, cakes, fried or boiled eggs, and cookies in various flavors. Guests will find various jams, a selection of cheeses, and cold cuts, as well as fruits. The Greek products selection features “manouri” and feta cheese, “dakos” rusks, local yoghurt, olives, olive oil and gruyere. Various hot dishes alternate daily. There is a variety of pies (with greens, cheese, zucchini etc.), Greek salad, “strapatsada” (scrambled eggs with tomato), Cretan pie with assorted greens and “tzatziki” dip. Sweet treats include mini “myzithra” cheese pies with honey, the traditional “lychnarakia”, “loukoumades” (honey dumplings), “ryzogalo” (rice pudding), and semolina pudding (halva). Beverages served are coffee, milk, tea and orange or grapefruit juice.

Traditional Cretan biscuits such as “stafidoto” (with raisins), “kavroumadaki” with sesame, almond biscuits, olive oil cookies, cinnamon cookies as well as various sweets like the Cretan “kambanakia” with honey, the local “myzithra” pie with honey, and the traditional “loukoumades” (honey dumplings), are available daily.

The Nefeli hotel aims to promote the wealth of the Cretan gastronomy. Breakfast includes traditional bread products, jams, honey, cookies and various Cretan hot dishes, such as “sfouggato” (omelet with zucchinis), “ryzogalo” (rice pudding) etc. Dishes alternate on a weekly basis so that guests may taste as many Cretan delicacies as possible.

Breakfast at the Mythos is based on authentic Greek and Cretan flavors. Guests may also try Cretan organic eggs and organic “apaki” (smoked pork) from Rethymno, as well as organic local vegetables. There are also fresh fruits and herbal teas like “malotira”, “diktamo”, “sarantodendri” and “flyskouni”, freshly squeezed orange juice from Chania and Greek coffee.

Visitors can also try omelettes with fresh vegetables, wild greens or sausages. The famous Cretan rusk is served with grated fresh tomato, oregano, olive oil and “teleme” cheese. There is also a selection of the best Cretan cheeses like gruyere, “kefalotyri”, “anthotyro”, “ksinomyzithra”, as well as yoghurt and milk cream.

Στο εστιατόριο Corali δίπλα στη θάλασσα, στόχος είναι να γνωριστεί ο επισκέπτης με τα κρητικά και τα υπόλοιπα ελληνικά προϊόντα, ώστε να μυηθεί στην παράδοση μέσα από γεύσεις και παρασκευές. Ο μπουφές του πρωινού είναι στον μεγαλύτερο βαθμό (κατά 90%) ελληνικός, με κρητικά κατά κύριο λόγο προϊόντα.

Καθημερινά προσφέρεται τεράστια ποικιλία από ψωμιά και αρτοσκευάσματα που έρχονται από τοπικό συνεργάτη, γιαούρτια, κομπόστες, χυμοί, ροφήματα και μια μεγάλη συλλογή καφέδων και παραδοσιακών αφεψημάτων.

Επίσης, ο μπουφές περιλαμβάνει διάφορα τυριά (όπως λευκό τυρί Κρήτης, ανθότυρος, γραβιέρα και κεφαλοτύρι), αλλαντικά, ελιές, αλλά και διάφορα ζεστά και κρύα γλυκίσματα, όπως παστέλια, φανουρόπιτα, χαλβάς και λυχναράκια. Τέλος, εκτός από τα άφθονα φρούτα εποχής, σερβίρονται ζεστά και κρύα λαχανικά, αλλά και παρασκευές αυγών κατά παραγγελία.
