Traditional recipes from Lesvos such as “giouzlemedes” (fried cheese pies), “sfouggato”, (zucchini pie), mushroom pie, fried zucchini balls, stand out. Other dishes include various kinds of omelettes, cheese bread, savory cake, olive pie, pie with leeks among others. There are also local products such as feta cheese of Mytilene, “ladotyri” cheese, local sausages and homegrown products (olives, olive oil, fresh fruits, tomatoes, cucumbers etc). Desserts feature traditional “loukoumades” (honey dumplings), spoon sweets, syrupy “diples”, “plantzeta” (walnuts in syrup wrapped in filo pastry), apple pie, various kinds of jams, a selection of homemade cakes and cookies.
