The Familia hotel is located in Vathy, the capital of Ithaca. The hotel is housed in a traditional olive press which was converted into a hotel. The seven rooms of the hotel -individually decorated- are fully equipped and have all modern amenities.
The guests at the Familia hotel can enjoy an excellent homemade breakfast in the small garden of the hotel. Fresh ingredients, homemade jams, handmade “tsoureki” (traditional sweet bread) are among the delicacies served. Specialties include “strapatsada”, (grated tomatoes fried with fresh eggs and top quality olive oil from Ithaca) and “riganada”, a gourmet snack: Toasted slices of bread with tomato, feta, olive oil and oregano. Other delicacies such as “tiganopsomo”, (fried, golden pancakes with honey or sugar and plenty of cinnamon) and “polenta” (cream made with corn flour, raisins, sugar and cinnamon or “amygdalopita” (almond pie), are really worth trying. Last but not least, the traditional cream-filled “bougatsa” pie is a must breakfast selection together with “ryzogalo” (rice pudding).
