Hotel Amalia is located in Palio, very near the city of Kavala, It is a luxury apartment complex just 150m from the sea, fully renovated in 2007. It has 14 rooms (studios and two-room apartments), furnished and fully equipped, 8 of which are suites. All apartments have air conditioning, en suite bathroom, satellite TV, telephone, balcony with sea views and a fully equipped kitchenette. The sandy beach near the hotel is ideal for children.
The breakfast buffet at the Hotel Amalia mostly features products from Kavala and the wider region. There is selection of fresh breads, including sesame ring bun (koulouri). There is milk and yoghurt from Drama as well as cheese. Furthermore, fresh seasonal fruits, jams and traditional spoon sweets come from producers of Kavala and Thasos. The honey is also from Thasos or Kavala and olives are local as well. The traditional “bougatsa” pastry with custard cream or cheese is from Kavala. The handmade pies are from Drama. Greek coffee is roasted in Kavala and brewed in the traditional way, served with local “kourabiedes” (walnut sugar shortbreads). Mountain tea and local linden tea are also offered.
