The Roof Garden at the Almyrida Residence offers a rich breakfast which combines Cretan, Greek and international products. For starters there is a wide selection of breads and bakery products baked at the hotel. The local cinnamon cookies, wine cookies and oil cookies, are all made with traditional recipes. The classic cheese selection is enriched by the local gruyere, the Cretan “myzithra”, the sour “anthotyros” cheese and traditional yoghurt. The cold buffet features fresh fruits, milk, “ryzogalo” (rice pudding), honey, dried fruits and jams, tomatoes, cucumbers, feta cheese, cold cuts, sweet and savory cakes. The hot buffet includes “loukoumades” (dumplings with honey), omelettes or fried/boiled eggs, fruit cakes, various pies, beans, traditional “tiganites” (pancakes), baked tomatoes with mushrooms and cheese. Cretan olive oil and olives are basic staples at the breakfast buffet. As for beverages, there is fresh fruit juice, tea and traditional beverages such as “diktamos”, “malotira” (mountain tea) and sage.
