Unified Agricultural Cooperative of Zakynthos
The Unified Agricultural Cooperative of Zakynthos was founded in 1920. It comprises 27 primary agricultural cooperatives, with a total of 2,150 farmers. Since its establishment, the Cooperative has operated in various sectors, focusing primarily on the marketing and distribution of agricultural products grown on the island.
Zakynthos’s unique variety of microclimates creates ideal conditions for a wide range of agricultural crops. The remarkable richness of the island’s agricultural land has been praised since ancient times by numerous historians and travellers. Zakynthos has been described as an “Earthly Paradise”, a place that produces “the finest olive oil in the world”. It is a truly unique phenomenon for such a small piece of land to offer such abundant natural wealth.
