The Elite City Resort is set at the foot of the Taygetos Mountain, overlooking the bay of Messinia. It is a unique place, not far from the centre of Kalamata. The hotel is open all year round and receives leisure and business travellers. Fully renovated in 2010 with state-of-the-art rooms, it features 157 rooms (including executive suites with private pool, family-type maisonettes and standard rooms). The resort has restaurants and bars, sports facilities, a swimming pool, a playground, a wellness area and a conference center.
The Elite City Resort serves a rich breakfast with international dishes but also features a corner showcasing the products and recipes of Messinia. Herbal teas, like sage and tea of Taygetos, various coffees (including traditional Greek) and freshly squeezed orange juice, are offered to guests as a greeting. There is also fresh bread, local cheese, such as feta, gruyere, “sfela”, anthotyro and yoghurt. Guests can also taste salted pork from Kalamata, “lalaggia” (traditional sweet of the region), cookies from Mani, oil and barley rusks with freshly grated tomatoes. There is virgin olive oil, olives of Kalamata and dried figs flavored with oregano. Hot dishes include “tiganopsoma” (fritters with cheese) and sausages with orange from Mani. Desserts include fresh Kalamata pasteli made with 100% honey, walnuts and blackcurrants, homemade cookies, homemade jams, honey from Taygetos, apple pie and “loukoumades” (dumplings with honey and grated walnut.)
