The Avalon hotel is situated on the picturesque hill of Bochali, 1km from the nearest beach, on the picturesque island of Zakynthos. It offers rooms overlooking the Ionian Sea and an outdoor swimming pool. All the air conditioned rooms have a balcony with views of the sea, the mountain or the garden.
The Greek Breakfast at the Avalon is based on local products and recipes of Zakynthos. There is a variety of breads, handmade rusks, cake with honey, semolina pudding (halva), traditional buns with olives, honey or “tahini”. Guests will find traditional pies with local cheeses (“ladotyri”). There are also handmade marmalades, honey, and delicious spoon sweets. Other desserts include “mandolato”, (nougat) and pasteli (honey and nuts bar). The local cheeses (“ladograviera”, “ladotyri” and “prentsa”) are worth trying. A specialty dish is the “strapatsada” (scrambled eggs and tomato) with “ladotyri” of Zakynthos. Breakfast is complete with sweet or sour ‘trahanas” with fried bread and grated goat’s cheese.
