The Greek breakfast at the Alex Beach hotel combines variety and Greek tradition, with emphasis on local products. There is a wide assortment of fresh bakery products, cakes, “tsoureki” (sweet bread), fresh fruit and vegetables, Greek jams, dried nuts and fruits, Greek traditional cheeses, cold cuts and fresh eggs are basic breakfast staples. Local spoon sweets as well as Greek honey are offered daily, paired with Greek strained yoghurt. Traditional recipes are “strapatsada” (scrambled eggs with tomato), green zucchini and sweet pumpkin pie, semolina pudding (halva), chocolate pie with virgin olive oil, pie with tahini, cream-filled “bougatsa” pie and the local “fanouropita” pie. The extra virgin olive oil is produced on the premises from the hotel’s olive trees. Traditional offerings such as homemade “melekounia” (with sesame, honey and cinnamon), biscuits and cookies are also offered.

The rich breakfast buffet has many local products and handmade delicacies based on traditional recipes. The breads are from a traditional bakery and the variety of biscuits and cakes is baked on the premises. There are homemade jams and local thyme honey. Apart from coffees, a variety of herbal teas is served, fresh lemonade or traditional “kanelada” (with cinnamon). As for cheeses there is feta, the traditional “possia”, “krasotyri” and “anthotyros” cheese. Apart from the local cherry tomato sweet there are handmade spoon sweets and compotes. The eggs are cooked in many ways, like “strapatsada” (scrambled with fresh tomato), and “sfouggato” (with zucchini). There is a variety of pies of the day (with meat, pasta, “anevati” of Kos, with olives and other filings.) Desserts include traditional “loukoumades” honey dumplings, “tiganites” (pancakes) and “pougia” as well as “ravani” (surupy semolina cake) and walnut pie, semolina pudding (halva), cream filled “galaktoboureko” with phyllo crust, apple, orange or lemon pie, “bougatsa” (with cream) and “ryzogalo” (rice pudding), and the traditional “”mageria”” of Kos (sweet mastic/cinnamon flavored cream).
